Author Guidelines

Apunar Khirikire: An Assamese Quarterly E-Magazine

Welcome to Apunar Khirikire!
We invite authors to contribute original, unpublished, and high-quality content in Assamese for inclusion in our quarterly e-magazine, Apunar Khirikire. Below are the detailed guidelines for submitting articles, success stories, newsletters, and journal pieces.

1. Scope of Submissions

We accept contributions in the following categories:

  • Feature Articles
  • Success Stories
  • Research-based Articles or Journals
  • Newsletter Items
  • Cultural Essays & Creative Writing
  • Interviews & Personal Narratives
  • Reviews (Books, Films, Arts, etc.)

Language of Submission: Assamese
(Articles must be written in Assamese Unicode fonts.)

2. General Submission Requirements

  • The submission must be original and unpublished elsewhere, either online or in print. However, researchers, faculty members, students, and stakeholders may also share informative content based on previously published papers or research reviews, provided it is rewritten in a simplified, engaging manner suitable for a general audience. In such cases, proper citation/ reference of the original source is required.
  • The author must retain copyright but grant Apunar Khirikire non-exclusive rights to publish, archive, and distribute the work in digital formats.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring factual accuracy and avoiding plagiarism.

3. Manuscript Format

  • Title: Clear and concise, in Assamese.
  • Author Name: Full name (Pseudonyms allowed with real name in parentheses for records).
  • Affiliation (Optional): Profession, organization, or any relevant association.
  • Abstract/Summary (Optional but Recommended): 50-100 words summary in Assamese.
  • Keywords: 3-5 keywords (in Assamese) for indexing.
  • Main Text:
    • Font: Unicode Assamese Fonts (e.g., Nirmala UI, Akhar Unicode, etc.)
    • Font Size: 12-14 pt
    • Line Spacing: 1.5
    • Word Count:
      • Feature Articles: 800–2000 words
      • Short Stories/Essays: 800–1500 words
      • Success Stories/Reports: 600–1500 words
      • Poetry: Any length (with preference for <60 lines)
      • Newsletter Items: Up to 500 words
    • Images/Figures (Optional):
      • JPEG/PNG, high resolution (minimum 300 DPI)
      • Caption and source (if applicable) must be provided.

4. Referencing Style (If Applicable)

We encourage references where applicable:

  • Provide references if any
  • Provide a bibliography at the end (in Assamese or English).
  • Mention url if the reference is taken from web.
  • Format:
    • Books: Author(s). (Year). Title. Publisher.
    • Articles: Author(s). (Year). “Title.” Journal Name, Volume(Issue), Pages.
    • Websites: Author (if available). “Title of Webpage.” URL. Accessed Date.

5. Ethical Guidelines

  • No plagiarism or AI-generated unedited content.
  • Authors must ensure factual correctness.
  • Any conflicts of interest must be disclosed.
  • If quoting or adapting from other works, proper credit must be given.

6. Submission Process

  1. Manuscripts must be submitted electronically via email to:

    • Manuscript in MS Word (.doc/.docx) or editable text file (.rtf/.txt)
    • Images (if any) as separate attachments
  3. Provide:
    • Full Author Name
    • Short Bio (50 words, optional)
    • Contact Email & Phone Number (for internal records only)

7. Review & Acceptance

  • Submissions are subject to editorial review.
  • Selected articles may undergo light editing for grammar, clarity, and length while retaining author voice.
  • Authors will be notified via email regarding acceptance or rejection, usually within 2-4 weeks.
  • Accepted articles will be scheduled for an upcoming issues and ask for Author Agreement.
